BC Consultant - Food

An opportunity for an experienced Food ERP Consultant to define & execute our Food Go-To-Market strategy OR an experienced Food Process or Production Manager to move into Business Consultancy with us.

Role Summary

To define and deliver food project implementations to the satisfaction of the Customer through the application of Columbus’ formalised methods and procedures, optimising quality and efficiency at all times.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 

  • Evaluate existing food manufacturing processes and workflows to identify areas that could benefit from changes and improvements
  • Apply knowledge of food production to the manufacturing process
  • Create processes and procedures aligned to Columbus Software to help customers meet budgetary goals and performance quotas
  • Participate in pre-sales opportunities as required in capacity as a Food Industry specialist          
  • Lead and facilitate customer workshops to ensure collaboration and cohesion in order to capture customer requirements     
  • Establish an effective and efficient work sequence to enable requirements to be captured and translated into software solutions
  • Understand existing problems and devise new solutions
  • Review customer processes and systems to determine where improvements can be made
  • Gather intelligence from customers executives and managers about future needs and growth
  • Build relationships with customers executive committee to ensure project objectives fulfil a specific need and are resolved successfully
  • Assume responsibility for project tasks and ensure they are completed in a timely fashion
  • Evaluate, test and recommend new opportunities for solution or process enhancements 
  • Continuous improvement of Columbus project methodologies and procedures to ensure quality & repeatability
  • Work with Technical Solution Architect to define data migration strategies
  • Collaborate with Functional Solution Architect to design outline solutions to meet specific requirements and gaps in the standard food software
  • Lead solution overview sessions with customer to demonstrate how standard food software functionality can fulfil requirements
  • Identify and promote commercial opportunities
  • Maintain and improve food industry knowledge, skills and qualifications             
  • Maintain and improve food software knowledge and skills

Team Playing and Effective Project Communication

  • Control and carry out scheduled tasks on a daily basis, including following up on time consumption with the Project Manager and the observance of entered contractual agreements.
  • Effectively communicate with your Line Manager and relevant Project Manager on an on-going basis, informing them of relevant issues with own activities, possible scope change, expected budget over-run and other affairs that may be relevant.
  • Participate in internal and external project meetings as requested.

Develop yourself and Columbus

  • Keep up to date with changes/developments in Business Central and industry best practices, through self-learning, training and research
  • Keep up to date with the development of the Columbus 9 Doors offerings and how they could benefit our customers
  • Using experience, provide feedback and recommendations to improve current processes/implementation methodology
  • Provide support to your peers, your project team and the wider Columbus team for your specific areas of expertise
  • Contribute to the continuous development of your team, the company and the group organisation through knowledge sharing

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Degree level food science, food technology, manufacturing or equivalent industry experience is desirable

Industry and Software Experience

  • Working within Food Processing, Food Manufacturing, Food Distribution & Logistics
  • Understand all roles within a Food Processing, Food Manufacturing, Food Distribution & Logistics
  • Familiar with Food production compliance with established procedures and standards
  • Understand Food Processing, Food Manufacturing, Food Distribution & Logistics targets and objectives
  • Preparation of periodic reports to update upper management on food production activities
  • Knowledge of Food Processing, Food Manufacturing, Food Distribution & Logistics regulations and Govt legislations   
  • In depth knowledge of inventory control, management and reporting
  • Understand product manufacturing processes to ensure quality
  • Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solutions in a Food Processing, Food Manufacturing, Food Distribution & Logistics business is desirable
  • 3+ years consultancy expertise is preferable
  • Excellent presentation skills is desirable
  • Experience delivering training or presenting to an audience is preferable

  • Fluent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Commercially astute, understanding of how the business makes money, what customers want and the commercial challenges in the food industry
  • Strong interpersonal skills 
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong team player, putting the needs of the project team ahead of personal goals
  • Ability to work unsupervised and self-motivated to meet deadlines
  • Displays competent and professional business behaviour and appearance
  • Dynamic, proactive and engaging style
  • Leading the activities of food production personnel to ensure efficient operations
  • Proven ability to achieve production targets within set timeframe
  • Experience of coaching and/or mentoring colleagues would be desirable

Other Requirements

  • Flexibility to travel to customer site and be away from home
  • Full and clean Driving Licence
  • Flexibility to work overtime\weekends, if required
