Role Summary

To support the sales teams in winning business.  Understanding customer’s specific business needs and applying product knowledge to meet those needs.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Provide the business solution expertise required to support new and existing business sales

  • Keep up to date with the capabilities of the latest version of products sold
  • Keep up to date with the latest business topics and trends in the industry sectors that Columbus operate in.
  • Lead the discovery process to analyse client & prospects business processes
  • Define gaps between our solutions and prospects needs
  • Analyse statements of requirements by prospects and clients and provide answers in response to those requirements
  • Design outline solutions (proposals) to meet specific requirements
  • Demonstrate the solutions to customers and prospects
  • Proactively participate in the multi-channel approach to the business unit Go To Market strategy
  • Provide input to the sales team in the production of RFI and ITT responses and preparation of proposals
  • Prepare and deliver customer presentations and demonstrations of the software, articulately, confidently and enthusiastically
  • Manage your own diary in order to organise and prioritise daily and weekly goals
  • Contribute to team or progress meetings to update and inform colleagues
  • Understand all solutions implemented at Columbus customers, so that the benefits of these can be communicated and demonstrated to other prospects and customers
  • Identify, evaluate, and recommend proof of concept opportunities
  • Ensure that product knowledge is maintained across the whole product portfolio
  • Maintain and actively update an environment to enable solution demonstrations
  • Pro-actively identify solutions and latest technologies that add value to sales proposals
  • Maintain a balance between product capability, prospects’ requirements and commercial reality
  • All other duties commensurate with this role

Develop yourself and Columbus:

  • Keep up to date with the development of the Columbus 9 Doors offerings and how they could benefit our customers
  • Using experience, provide feedback and recommendations to improve current processes/implementation methodology
  • Provide support to your peers, your project team and the wider Columbus team for your specific areas of expertise
  • Contribute to the continuous development of your team, the company and the group organisation through knowledge sharing

Sound general level of education up to A Level standard, including English and Maths GCSE pass A – C grade or equivalent qualification/work experience. 

Business Degree or equivalent is desirable. Microsoft CE knowledge and certifications are essential.

Industry and Software Experience:

Experienced in preparation of analysis and documentation as required (scoping specifications)

Knowledge of benefits and messaging of complete solution’s features and functionality

Understanding of product roadmap and enhancement plans

Solid understanding of the business issues faced by companies in the industry sectors that Columbus operate in

Solid understanding of solution selling and business processes

Analytical and commercial mind-set

Excellent discovery and demonstration skills

Displays competent and professional business behaviour and appearance

Fluent verbal and written communication skills in English

Strong interpersonal skills with prospects at all levels

Dynamic, proactive and engaging style to represent Columbus in front of the customer

Attention to detail and accurate

Ability to work unsupervised and self-motivated to meet deadlines

Strong team player

Experience of coaching and/or mentoring colleagues is desirable

Other Requirements

  • Flexibility to travel to customer site and be away from home
  • Full and clean Driving Licence
  • Flexibility to work overtime\weekends, if required
