D365 Finance Consultant

Role Summary

To work as part of customer facing project team, providing consultancy services and industry best practice business expertise to ensure successful and high-quality project implementations.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Participate in successful project implementations

  • Carry out assigned tasks to a high quality and comprehensive standard, achieving high customer satisfaction in accordance with the scope of the project.  These activities include:
  • Conduct project scoping activities and document comprehensively in line with project requirements.
  • Co-ordinate, conduct and document the functional requirements analysis (including; functional requirements, gap identification, systems change requests, actions, etc.)
  • Challenge customer requests for modifications and consider workarounds or alternatives and assist with the cost benefit analysis.
  • Complete the Customer specific configuration and build of the application in accordance with the functional requirements.
  • Complete the specification and testing of accepted customisations and the integration of various system components so that the customer determines it to be at an acceptable level of quality.
  • Complete process testing and issue resolution, attempting to solve enquiries and error reports independently before involving colleagues and/or third parties. (e.g. Software Partner Service Department).
  • Deliver training courses to meet the specific requirements of the Customer for both standard system and special customisations.
  • Provide Go-Live support and handover to Customer Operations department.
  • Provide second level support to other departments if required.
  • Understand and apply Columbus’ formalised project management methodologies and procedures throughout the project implementation.
  • Able to estimate accurately how much time is left on a task

Team Playing and Effective Project Communication

  • Control and carry out scheduled tasks on a daily basis, including following up on time consumption with the Project Manager and the observance of entered contractual agreements.
  • Effectively communicate with your Line Manager and relevant Project Manager on an on-going basis, informing them of relevant issues with own activities, possible scope change, expected budget over-run and other affairs that may be relevant.
  • Participate in internal and external project meetings as requested.

Develop Yourself and Columbus

  • Keep up to date with changes/developments in the software and also in industry best practices, through self-learning, training and research.
  • Keep up to date with the development of the Columbus 9 doors offerings and all relevant associated products.
  • Provide support to your peers, your project team and the wider Columbus team for your specific areas of expertise.
  • Contribute to the continuous development of your team, the Company and the Group organisation, through knowledge sharing.

Person Specification

Software Experience

  • 3+ years consultancy experience within Dynamics D365 
  • Demonstrable relevant Dynamics D365 product knowledge for the role
  • Knowledge of other ERP, eCommerce, BI, CE products is desirable.

Consultancy Skills

  • Experience of requirements gathering
  • Experience of running workshops and delivering training
  • 4+ years or more consultancy experience with another relevant ERP product is desirable
  • Experience in coaching/mentoring customers and colleagues is desirable
  • Proven presentation skills are desirable.

IT Skills

  • Microsoft Office experienced user


  • Relevant Degree-level education or equivalent industry experience
  • Relevant software certification
  • Microsoft Certified Consultant Associate Status is desirable
  • Certification in additional modules/versions and relevant Professional qualification also preferable.
